September 2008 – Madrid, Spain.
Summer vacation and the 2008 Olympic Games: the perfect excuse for the innovative pedal boat race held at the shopping mall Isla Azul. From August
6-23, SIA Interactive joined forces with the agency Cuatromanos for an event at the mall, implementing a pedal boat race designed especially for the firm. The interactive solution attracted both children and adults alike.
The idea behind the event was about promoting non-traditional sports among Madrid residents. The decision to install several screens got the public actively involved in the event and long lines of shoppers awaiting their turn at the pedal boats soon formed.
The races were a big hit, as seen from the great number of participants (3,448 people). The cameras of TeleMadrid came to the mall to document this singular event. |

Pedal Race
A pedal race was organized in which two pairs of participants raced against each other. All the teams that raced in “record” time went on to participate in the finals in a race for the gold.
