May 2003 - Jerez de la frontera, Spain.
With a large turnout and important media coverage, the 3rd
Annual Motorcycle World Cup revived up Jerez de la Frontera.
Telefónica Movistar, which sponsored different teams, set
up in the promotional area of the Jerez circuit, and in
the Bahía Sur Shopping Mall in the city of Cadiz.
For the promotional area in the Jerez circuit, SIA Interactive designed
a multiplayer Virtual Reality motorcycle race.
This race uses the latest SIA-MP1
multiplayer engine, developed by SIA Sistemas.
Two networked motorcycles were used (replicas of those
used by Toni Elías and Daniel Pedrosa). They were equipped
with sensors and VR helmets that allowed the competitors
to feel the exhilaration of real motorcycle racers. A giant
screen transmitted a bird's eye view of the race.
At the Shopping Mall, a screaming race for three players
was installed; the race took place on a 3-D motorcycle track.
Participants had to shout the name of the brand in order
for their motorcycles to advance towards the finish line;
the motorcycles moved according to the intensity of the
screams. Whoever screamed the loudest moved the fastest
and won the race.
"I am so pleased with the job done by SIA Interactive and with
the way we were able to respond to the needs of our client,
Telefónica Movistar".
